Passing time in Strathroy Ontario I was told about the Rock Glen conservation area. It was described as a small walking trail with a nice waterfall to photograph which should be mostly iced over due to the lingering chilly weather. I started my weekend exploring trip off by checking it out. The walking trail really was quite short and the waterfall very interesting to see. Once I setup my camera on the tripod I tried to attach my filter to my lens. This is like sunglasses for my camera which allows me to slow down my shutter speed and that would smooth out water as it cascaded down the falls. My new Tamron 28-75 lens is threaded too wide for my old filter set and now I’ll have to buy new filters! Curses!

I did my best to hold the filter up to the lens while keeping most of my fingers out of the way and did a heavy crop to photo what I could of the falls. Here is the result. A bit dull and dreary with the current background but I may go back again late April once things green up a little.

Not satisfied with just the one photo for the day I drove to Ipperwash beach in Lambton shores to view Lake Huron. It was a stunning view! A frozen vast lake of ice as far as the eye could see. I love the panorama and the contrast that came out without even having to try an HDR. Here’s the shots.

I zipped to Sarnia Ontario just to say that I had been there. I took a few photos but it was turning into some pretty drab weather and I wasn’t overly happy with them. Nothing really to post on that front unfortunately.

I popped into Clark Wright conservation area and took a few more muddy spring photos.

Over the weekend I also made it down to an Iroquois historic site called Ska-Nah-Doht Village and Museum. I loved this spot and exploring it. The entrance was a wooden maze which was meant to confuse people trying to enter who weren’t from the settlement. I was really impressed with the low light performance of the D750 inside the dim long houses.

A bit of traveling over last weekend and a few good shots and a bit of fun. Next stop is home to Halifax! More photos soon. Cheers,
