So my title is a little misleading. There has been no thunder since I made it to Manitoba. I have been here just under a week and took a spin out to Riding Mountain national park and then down to Lake Audy to see the Bison enclosure. Thinking of bison trampling the plains brought the title to mind.
I’ve been in Manitoba five days now and needed a photo adventure. I started off by picking up an annual park pass which is valid across Canada. I figure I’ll be able to get some good use out of it. Next I blitzed through Riding Mountain to get to Wasagaming, MB. Some people also call it Clearlake I think, It was a windy day with choppy waters on the lake but was able to get some cool shots and enjoy a beavertails pastry! Looks like a gorgeous summer spot.
Seeing the bison’s has me thinking of thunder because those are some big beasts! Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) I hardly saw them take a step as they graze in the enclosure. The Lake Audy Bison enclosure is an area you drive through and can come right up next to the bison which allow for incredible photo opportunities! I had a friend take over driving and opened the sunroof of my rental car so I could pop up and shoot without leaving the vehicle. It was pretty thrilling!
Once we tired of bison photography we hit Moon lake in Riding Mountain park on the way back home and finally called it a day.
I will try to get out a few more times and see what else I can find around this part of Canada soon. My early plan is to catch drag racing in early June! Will see if it pans out!
